Engakuji Temple 円覚寺

今回のブログは前回よりも長めですので楽しんでいってください。

On November 11,My mother & I went to the Engakuji Temple.

The leaves of the trees began to turn red.

 Engakuji Temple was founded in the 5th year of the Koan Era (1282).  Its patron was Hojo Tokimune of the Kamakura Shogunate, who played an important role in the battles against Mongolia. The founder of the temple was the high-ranking priest, Mugaku Sogen (Bukko Kokushi), who arrived in Japan from China. Engakuji was built mainly to honor the war-dead from both sides of conflict.

11月11日、母と円覚寺に行ってきました

紅葉はまだまだこれから…といったとこですね。

さて、円覚寺は弘安5年(1282年)に創建されました。開基は元寇の役に活躍した鎌倉幕府の執権北条時宗、開山は栄から来朝した高僧の無学祖元（仏光国師）です。円覚寺創建の主な目的は、蒙古襲来で戦没した多くの霊を敵味方なく弔うことでした。

Arrive at the Sanmon gate (Main gate).　　山門

 It is beautiful that Design of the sculpture at the gate.

The Butsuden is located at the back of the Sanmon gate.　　　　　　仏殿

Kojirin　　居士林

This is a Zen meditation hall for Koji, or lay trainees of Zen. Here, Zen meditation sessions are held for a wide range of the general public.

To go straight.

To turn right.

Daihojo　　大方丈

The  sculpture of two dragons at the gate.

A tree called a juniper tree in the Daihojo.

柏槇（びゃくしん）

We entered the Hojo in the Daihojo.　　　　方丈

I enter the inside, and there is an ornament of the Zen meditation.

座禅

Bentendo　　弁天堂

This is dedicated to Enoshima's Benzaiten.

江ノ島より招来した弁財天をまつっています。

We saw beautiful garden.

I'm excited about seeing it little by little !

少しずつ綺麗なお庭が見えてくるさまが美しく、わくわくします。

Because there are a fence, I did'nt enter it.

柵があったため入れませんでした

Because Ogane was under construction,  we were not able to go.

I feel very disappointed.

この先に洪鐘（おおがね）があるのですが、工事中のため行けず、とても残念です。  

At the end, we see the Engakuji Temple at the Byakurochi. 　　百鷺池

最後に。ここも円覚寺の敷地内なのです。

踏切もなんだかいい味を出してくれました。

Ebisu shrine 蛭子神社

Hello !
Sorry I was late.

I want to write it about Ebisu shrine today.

 

The people was called Ebisu Saburo shrine, but renamed it to Ebisu shrine in 1429-1440.

The enshrined deity is Onamuchi no mikoto.

The festival in about the middle of August.

I like this chozuya (purification trough).
The picture is beautiful !
I like this sense.

There is small shrine.
So I feel to be able to stop somewhere.

今日は蛭子神社について書きます。
この神社、昔は夷三郎社と呼ばれていましたが、三つの神社を合わせた際、蛭子神社に改称されました。
祭神は大巳貴命（おおなむちのみこと）です。
祭礼は８月中旬ごろにあります。
この神社は小さいので、ふらりと立ち寄るのにちょうど良いです。

Daigyoji Temple 大巧寺

There is Daigyoji Temple where I walked straight from Kamakura Station.

There are many beautiful flowers in leading to the main hall of the temple.

"Take nothing but photographs."

 Around the end of the Muromachi period(A.D.16^th), the chief of this temple, Priest Nitto, held a memorial service for the wife of Akiyama Kageyu, who had died in childbirth, so that she may rest in peace. From that time on, the principal object of worship at the temple has been the “Ubusume Deity”, the Goddess of Childbirth, which is said to protect women from the suffering of childbirth.

 Today it is still visited by many worshippers praying for an easy delivery, and is known by the nickname “Onmesama”.

鎌倉駅からまっすぐ歩いたところに大巧寺があります。

本堂へ続く道には花が咲いており、とても美しいです。

室町時代の終わり頃、この寺の住職の日棟上人（にっとうしょうにん）が、難産で死んだ秋山勘解由（あきやまかげゆ）の妻を供養して成仏させました。その後、お産で苦しむ女性を守護するために、「産女霊神（うぶすめれいじん）」を本尊としてお祀りしました。

今も安産祈願の寺として、「おんめさま」の愛称で呼ばれ、多くの方が参詣されています。
